Course Overview

This course is designed for those who have some knowledge of how to support others to safely move with or without equipment and will provide a practical and theoretical knowledge in how to safely teach and assess others in Manual Handling in line with the Handling of People, V7 guidelines.

Classroom based, face-to-face training

Target Audience

This is aimed at those people wanting to train and assess others in the skills of manual handling.
It is expected that the attendees will have a basic understanding of the manual handling of people prior to attending and since it is a practical course, all attendees must be able to participate in practical elements

Day 1 : Everything Manual Handling
What is Manual Handling
How the spine works
The legislation relating to Manual Handling
The core principles of safe handling of people/loads
Performing adequate risk assessments
Practically applying safe techniques for supporting a person to move

Day 2 : Teaching and Assessing
How we learn
Techniques for teaching and assessing effectively
How to provide constructive feedback
Creating the inclusive lesson
Producing a lesson plan

Day 3 : Putting theory into Practice
Each delegate will deliver and assess their own manual handling training session to put into practice the 2 days prior learning
