Basic Life Support Train-the-Trainer

Course Overview

This course is designed for those who have some knowledge of how to perform Basic Life Support and will provide a practical and theoretical knowledge in how to safely teach and assess others in Adult and Child Basic Life Support, in-line with the Resuscitation UK guidelines of 2025

Delivery Method

Classroom based, face-to-face training over 2 full days

Target Audience

This is aimed at those people wanting to train and assess others in the skills of Basic Life Support.

It is expected that the attendees will have a basic understanding of basic life support prior to attending and since it is a practical course, all attendees must be able to participate in practical elements.

Course Aims and Objectives

Day 1 : Everything BLS, Teaching and Assessing
Understand the role of the first-aider, including:
- the importance of preventing cross-infection
- the need for recording incidents and actions
- use of available equipment
- assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Treat an adult casualty who is unconscious and breathing
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an automated external defibrillator
- Treat a casualty who is choking
Understand how we learn, various techniques for teaching and assessing a practical skill and how to feedback to delegates in a constructive manner

Day 2 : Putting theory into Practice
Apply theory to practice through written and practical assessment

This course aligns with the Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines 2025
