Course Aims and Objectives

- To explore the anatomy and physiology of the digestive tract
- Know how diet, hydration, psychology, exercise, medical health and medications can influence bowel function, and learn strategies to support healthy bowel habits
- Discuss and be able to troubleshoot common complications of the bowel
- Demonstrate the safe and effective insertion of a suppository and enema
- Understand the importance of infection prevention, safe handling of waste, and maintaining a clean environment to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and illness.
- If requested, understand the theory of Digital rectal Stimulation and Manual Evacuation of Faeces
