This course will provide you with the theoretical and practical knowledge on how to safely and effectively care for someone with Diabetes Mellitus

This course is suitable for all healthcare staff wishing to gain a deeper understand on how to support someone with Diabetes Mellitus

Course Aims and Objectives

To know and understand the normal insulin production and types of Diabetes
To have an awareness of different treatment plans and the issues surrounding them
To understand how to safely administer appropriate medication
To recognise signs, symptoms and treatment of acute metabolic complications including hypoglycaemia, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) and Hyperglycaemic Hyperosmolar Nonketotic syndrome (HONK)
To be confident in the monitoring, recording and reporting of an individuals blood sugars
