Course Aims and Objectives

- To understand the indication and contraindications for urethral catheters
- To understand the principles of inserting and securing urethral catheters
- To understand how to monitor, and help individuals to self-monitor, urethral catheters
- To understand the principles of undertaking a trial without catheter (TWOC)
- To understand how to enable individuals to carry out intermittent self-catheterisation
- To discuss the documentation surrounding the catheterisation of an individual
