Medication Administration Train-the-Trainer

Course Overview

This course is designed for those who have a working knowledge in the safe administration of medication and will provide a practical and theoretical knowledge in how to safely teach and assess others in Level 2 Medication Administration, in-line with the RCN and RPS guidelines.

Classroom based, face-to-face training over 2 full days

Target Audience

This is aimed at those people wanting to train and assess others in the safe and effective administration of medication

It is expected that the attendees will have a basic understanding of the medication administration.

Course Aims and Objectives

Day 1 : Everything Medication and Training
Understanding what medication is
The legislation surrounding medication administration
The various medications and their routes
The importance of consent
How to safely and effectively administer medications using the MAR and PRN charts, considering the 8 rights of medication
How to prevent and manage medication errors
Understanding how we learn, various techniques for teaching and assessing a practical skill and how to provide feedback to delegates in a constructive manner

Day 2 : Putting theory into Practice
Applying theory to practice through written and practical assessment by conducting a 10min teaching
