Course Aims and Objectives

- To discuss the anatomy and physiology of the skin
- To define what is a pressure sore is and the grading of them in line with the EUPAP 2019 guidance
- To identify legislation and guidance in relation to pressure area care
- To explain the factors that might put an individual at risk of skin breakdown and pressure sores
- To explore good practice in maintaining someone’s pressure areas
- To discuss the use of materials and equipment to maintain and protect someone’s pressure areas
- To know what to report in relation to pressurea area care
